Future Tense
The future tense can be translated in the following ways:
portabo | I will carry |
I am going to carry |
In formal English, the 1st person forms (I and we) should use shall instead of will (e.g. I shall carry), but either are acceptable translations. Avoid using shall for 2nd and 3rd person.
In Latin, knowledge of conjugations is important for the future tense. Note the two quite different ways that the 1st/2nd conjugations form their future endings compared to the 3rd/4th/5th conjugations.
